An existing embankment causeway located on the A888 between Morghan and Northbay, Barra has recently collapsed at a section adjacent to the tidal bridge section. Overall condition of the causeway is poor and is regularly subject to flooding during high tidal events. Restraint barriers are also in poor condition and offer no appreciable restraint to vehicle strike.
